Riyadh Air launches its Riyadh–Dubai route today, June 18, 2026 — entering one of the world’s most competitive aviation corridors and giving UAE-based travellers their first opportunity to fly the Kingdom’s new full-service carrier on a route that currently handles millions of passengers annually through Saudia, flydubai, Air Arabia and a series of transit options via other carriers.
The Riyadh–Dubai corridor is the Gulf’s single most heavily-trafficked international aviation route, carrying an estimated 4–5 million passengers per year between the two cities and connecting two of the world’s fastest-growing economic hubs. The route’s passenger base spans Saudi expatriates in the UAE returning home for visits, UAE residents and tourists visiting Saudi Arabia, business travellers on the Kingdom–UAE commercial corridor, and transit passengers using both cities as connecting hubs.
What Riyadh Air Offers on the Dubai Route
Riyadh Air is operating Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on the Riyadh–Dubai service, configured in a two-class layout with a premium Business cabin and Economy cabin. The 787-9’s wide-body configuration — unusual for a short-haul Gulf route — gives passengers a significantly more comfortable experience than the narrow-body aircraft typically used on Riyadh–Dubai by competing carriers, with wider seats, larger windows and quieter engines.
Business class pricing on Riyadh Air’s Dubai route is expected to be competitive with Saudia’s business fares — targeting the Saudi business traveller segment that values premium cabin comfort and will pay a premium for it, but who has historically been underserved by narrow-body operations on the route. Economy pricing is expected to be competitive with existing low-cost options on the corridor.
Competition Shakes Up the UAE-Saudi Corridor
Riyadh Air’s entry is likely to intensify fare competition on the Riyadh–Dubai route over the coming months, with Saudia, flydubai and Air Arabia all expected to respond with promotional pricing as the new carrier builds its market share. For business travellers and tourists, this is unambiguously positive news: more capacity, more choice and more competitive pricing on the Gulf’s most important bilateral air link.
Today’s launch follows Riyadh Air’s June 10 inaugural commercial service to London and its June 14 domestic Riyadh–Jeddah launch, with the airline now operating its first three routes simultaneously and preparing for Cairo on June 25 and Madrid on July 17. By year-end, Riyadh Air plans 10 Boeing 787-9 aircraft in service and 20+ international destinations.
