Abu Dhabi Mobility and ITC: Same Authority, Two Names

Date:

As of 1 October 2026: if a letter, fine or service in Abu Dhabi mentions the Integrated Transport Centre, or you see the name Abu Dhabi Mobility attached to the same services, they are the same authority. The UAE’s own Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security referred to it in a dated news item on its own site as “the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility)”, confirming both names are in current official use side by side, while TAMM’s own entity listing for Abu Dhabi still runs under the formal name Integrated Transport Centre.

Neither authority has published a formal rebrand announcement the way Abu Dhabi Distribution Company did when it became Taqa Distribution. What exists instead is a quieter, parallel use of both names in different official contexts, which is exactly the kind of detail that is easy to miss and easy to worry about unnecessarily when it shows up on a document.

What does this one authority actually handle?

Reading through TAMM’s own service listing for the entity, the range is wide. It covers, among many other things:

  • Vehicle registration, ownership transfer and plate issuance
  • Driving licence issuance, replacement and category changes
  • Driving tests, learning permits and driving instructor permits
  • Vehicle inspection centre services
  • Parking permits, including private parking management and valet parking permits
  • Grievances for transport violations
  • Water sport and marine craft licensing

In practice, almost everything to do with owning, driving or parking a vehicle in Abu Dhabi runs through this one authority, even though the individual services are scattered across different TAMM menu sections.

Why does the dual naming matter for residents?

It mostly matters so you are not confused into thinking Abu Dhabi Mobility is a separate company or a new private operator. It is the same government authority, used in official UAE federal communications alongside the formal Integrated Transport Centre name. Correspondence, fines, or service confirmations could plausibly carry either name, and neither one should be treated as a scam or a rebrand you missed.

How does this tie into the services you actually use?

Most residents only interact with one or two corners of this authority’s work at a time. If you are renewing or transferring a vehicle, that is covered in our Abu Dhabi vehicle registration guide, which now also covers inspection fees since a valid inspection is one of the checks this authority runs before a renewal goes through. If you are converting or renewing a driving licence, our driving licence guide walks through that process in full.

Planning a broader move to the emirate, rather than a single transaction, is a different question. Our Abu Dhabi cost of living breakdown and guide to Abu Dhabi’s free zones are both useful starting points once the vehicle and licensing side of the move is sorted.

Is this the same pattern as other Abu Dhabi entity names?

Abu Dhabi has done this before. Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company formally became Taqa Distribution, with a clear brand switch and a CEO named publicly alongside the change. The Integrated Transport Centre and Abu Dhabi Mobility situation reads differently: there is no single announcement declaring one name retired, just both names appearing in different official contexts depending on which body is doing the writing. TAMM, as the day-to-day service portal most residents actually use, keeps the formal Integrated Transport Centre name on every one of its dozens of listed services. ICP, writing about a coordination meeting between agencies, used Abu Dhabi Mobility as a parenthetical clarification. Residents dealing directly with TAMM are unlikely to see the newer name at all unless it appears on correspondence from the entity itself.

What should you actually do if you see either name?

Treat them as interchangeable. If a fine, a renewal notice or a service confirmation carries either name, it came from the same government body that runs vehicle registration, licensing, inspection and parking in Abu Dhabi, not a different office and not a third party you need to separately verify. The practical services, fees and processes are unaffected by which of the two names appears on a given piece of correspondence.

What is the short version?

The Integrated Transport Centre and Abu Dhabi Mobility refer to the same government authority, both names confirmed in current official use. Between them they handle vehicle registration, driving licences, inspection, parking permits and traffic violation grievances in Abu Dhabi, scattered across TAMM’s service menu but run by one body. Knowing that saves the confusion of wondering whether a new name on a letter means a new operator.
